Thesis Final Report

Executive Summary

Within this final report contains an in-depth analysis of the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center construction process and proposed alternatives for the current system. The main attributes of the building that were investigated include the building support of excavation system alternative from the current soldier beam and lagging to a reinforced diaphragm wall, submittal analysis, and alternative curtain wall connections to interior partition walls from Emshield to Mull-it-Over. In addition to the above analysis, research in facilities management with BIM integration was also conducted. Although exact comparison of current project costs could not be fully obtained due to project team requests, representative values were determined and the project savings in schedule, cost, safety, and logistics were investigated and observed through this analysis.
